My name was Sophia long before it was the most popular baby girl’s name in the U.S.

I’m a freelance multimedia journalist living in New York City. Originally from a small town in upstate New York, I have always known that I would find my way to the Big Apple. Its fast-paced nature and endless possibilities fit in perfectly with my hard-working tendencies and curiosity that wanders from politics to cuisine to urban issues to travel.

I’m a lifetime learner and am currently in an intensive master’s program at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. I recently fell in love with photography and am slowly learning the intricacies of photojournalism. I think understanding data is important and a gateway to unwritten stories. Data visualization is a way to bring these stories to the public. I tend to over-think things, but I wouldn’t be a writer if I didn’t.

In my [very little] spare time, I love to cook, binge-watch television shows and dream about getting my own cat. I learned the value of simplicity when I studied abroad in Florence, Italy and I truly believe it’s the simple things in life that make us happy. I’m also a listaholic (see definition below).

List-a-hol-ic  [list-uhhaw-lik]
